Running for American Cancer Society

I'm hoping to raise money for the American Cancer Society and maybe inspire some others to get out and run. It's been a powerful force in my life since my first marathon in 2005. Let's do it again in 2012 and raise more than $2000 for American Cancer Society!

2010 Twin Cities Marathon Training Update (Week 11 of 13)

  • 15 miles of running – I was scheduled for 56, hoping for 60
  • 3 Swim sessions and I lifted weights once

Notes – I attempted to run Tuesday morning, made it 4 miles slowly, but I my hamstring wasn’t ready to run. I spent the week on ice. I swam Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, then ran 3 miles to test it out Saturday. Everything felt good, so Sunday morning I went 8 and felt good the whole time.

Official Weigh in on Thursday Morning – 169.4 – 27.61 lbs body fat – interesting, weight stayed the same as last week after not running much, but I lost 1.2 lbs of fat and gained .6 lbs of muscle.

Quote of the Week:
””A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more. Nobody is going to win a 5,000 meter race after running an easy 2 miles. Not with me. If I loose forcing the pace all the way, well, at least I can live with myself.” – Steve Prefontaine

Song of the Week:
Eve 6 – Inside Out – Remembering back to 1998 and a party at the cabin and just blaring this song.

Good Reading from the Week: (a few articles that caught my attention)

The Upcoming Week:
Again, who knows what my hammy will do.  #1 Priority is to heal or stay healed and #2 get in some miles and get the dust out of the system
